  1. I must agree with the above comment. I still see butterflies but no like I did when I was a kid. But to me delight did see one last weekend when eating breakfast. I never saw one so early. They seem to stay close to the huge lake up the road. I once laid in a field with a lot of them flying about me.

    1. I've seen four or five species this year, but not in great numbers. I guess that's not surprising as they struggle with loss of habitat.

      I leave most of the acreage to nature and hesitate to mow the lawn when there are wildflowers blooming, concerned that I'm removing pollen and nectar.

      Yet, I cut it, wondering all the while, 'What would be so terrible about leaving a meadow around the house?'
