The species is white spruce. Balsam fir is pretty much the only fir native to this neck of the woods. Douglas-fir is one of the species I really miss from my wanderings in the western forests, along with western hemlock and western red cedar.
I like the new background wallpaper on your site. Is that a closeup of a Doug Fir branch?
