Wildbush Woods

Across the snow, just north of the maple near the centre of the picture, is a trailhead to the Wildbush Woods.

The damage at the top of the pine to the right of centre was caused by a porcupine. It girdled the branch at its base, feeding on the bark last winter.

  1. You could take the very same picture around here. One winter porcupines destroyed dozens of white pines on the mountain next to us. They killed them by chewing halfway up, so the trees couldn't recover.

    1. I've only ever noticed the damage in winter; it must be hard finding something else to eat with all the snow and ice around.
